The Appalling Failing Standards in Our Care Homes

The sad truth is that our Care homes have apparently stopped caring, an important requisite given the industry they are in!

Now One in Five care homes are failing to meet the national standards for safety and care.

More and more of the homes I visit start with the over whelming smell of urine, and many more look unloved and untouched for years.

So why if the basic of standards are not being met are we expecting our loved ones to have an acceptable standard of care provided to them?

How can we raise standards?

How can we exceed the expectations of our Service Users?

Why are some home placing residents in danger because of insufficient or poorly trained staff?

There have been cases in the news where the wrong drugs had been given out.  Other homes were dirty, unhygienic or smelling of urine - not nice.

And in one establishment, dementia patients were being washed in cold water...

Here at the Edith Ellen Foundation we live by the ethos and value that the provision of outstanding care should be the objective of every provider; the receipt of outstanding care should be the right of every individual who needs it.

And we aim to achieve this through our Independent Kindness Audit and by identifying training needs of the Service Provider.  And delivering the Training required to adjust poor Care Skills into exceptional Care Skills.

We aim to create an Industry which is Person Centered and Promotes Holistic Kindness.

If you have dealt with any of the failings homes please feel you can comment, we have no agenda and no political connections.  We just want what everyone wants and that is a safe place to leave our loved ones when we can't continue the care.
