500,000 Older People go Lonely

Half a million older people spend every day alone, figures have revealed.  The research shows 500,000 over the age of 60 usually go at least five or six days a week without seeing or speaking to anyone at all, according to Age UK.

The Edith Ellen Foundation supports Older People both in their own homes and in care homes across our region.

We don’t want to see another older person facing loneliness, we offer a comprehensive free to access befriending service.  Our Volunteer Befrienders talk with the person they are working with to discover people's life circumstances, interests and ambitions as well as the kind of support that might help them to feel less lonely.

Our befrienders help source social groups and even attend to ensure that at no point our elderly feel “abandoned”.

We offer this service free, to ensure social inclusion, to help support us and provide support to our elderly please donate using our donate button or the following link
