Continual Failings in Care

Daily we are reading articles about the continual failings in our Care Homes.

Colwyn Bay care home latest to cease business Rosewood Healthcare nursing home blames finances as its elderly tenants with dementia are forced to relocate.

Residents at 'unsafe' care home have been re-homed after families given just one week to find new accommodation Freshfields Nursing Home officially closed on Friday after it was deemed 'inadequate' by Care Quality Commission

Uncertainty for residents as care home announces closure A nursing home near Ashbourne is due to close next month, leaving its 26 residents, and its 55 staff, facing uncertainty.  St Mary's Nursing Home, in Ednaston near Brailsford, will close on Friday, November 4 and its owners the Institute of our Lady of Mercy say it has been a "difficult decision".  The closure follows a publication, just a few days ago, of a damning Care Quality Commission report which said its services were "inadequate" following a surprise visit.

Dementia sufferer’s claim against council for 24-hour one-to-one care refused A man acting under a power of attorney who claimed that a local authority should pay for his elderly mother’s 24-hour one-to-one care at home has had a petition for judicial review dismissed.

Residents moved out of failing care home near Carlisle Those living at Harker Grange Nursing Home, just north of Carlisle, were forced to shift to new accommodation after the Care Quality Commission ordered it to make improvements or face closure.

So is it any surprise that within our Care Homes, there is Care in Crisis?  What is the CQC doing to ensure these failures stop?  And what is being done to stop the abuse and neglect of our elderly?
