Low (Poor) Standard of Care v The Potential for Excellence

Low Standard of Care v The Potential for Excellence

Recently there have been a number of cases in the news regarding the Low Standard of Care.

Then there is the new Innovative Dementia Care Home, soon to be opening in Berkshire.

Boasting:

·         That everything is cutting edge
·         A Library
·         A Hair Salon
·         A Cinema
·         All rooms lead to either a patio or a Garden
·         There is a Chef on site who will cater to every need and whim
·         Activities to inspire and occupy

There are even rumours that there will be pub on site and a children’s playground for the grand kids.

When the Abbeyfield Society officially opens its new purpose-built dementia home, in Winnersh, Berkshire, next month it will put most other institutions to shame.  And we at The Edith Ellen Foundation are looking forward to hearing good reviews and good news stories in a time when our elderly are being treated less fairly, and in a time of poor care quality standards.

As a result of the pioneering circular design, confusing dead ends and corridors have been eliminated.
