Actor Seth Rogen Opening Statement before a Senate hearing on Alzheimer's Research

Such a powerful and inspiring speech by the Actor and funny man Seth Rogen, discussing Alzheimer's.  Watch his heartfelt address on financing care for sufferers of Alzheimer’s disease.

As you watch you will notice the near empty room and those getting up and leaving which I find indicative of a mentality that we find so frustrating. It seems like these people don't care.

The cause, Rogen pointed out, is close to his heart because his mother-in-law, Adele Miller, was diagnosed with the disease relatively early on. He detailed how the illness changed her, and slowly took away her ability to care for herself. He argued in support of legislation that would increase federal funding for Alzheimer's disease care and research. He also cracked a few jokes.

"This has nothing to do with the legalization of marijuana".

"In fact, if you can believe it, this concerns something that I find even more important."

Upcoming Event - Tough Mudder

The Edith Ellen Foundations' very own Lara will be attended the grooling Tough Mudder event on Sunday 25th September 2016 to help raise funding for the Foundation to apply for our Kindness in Care's entire Training Programme to be accreditation.

Tough Mudder is a 10-12-mile mud and obstacle course designed to drag you out of your comfort zone by testing your physical strength, stamina, and mental grit.

With no podiums, winners, or clocks to race against, it’s not about how fast you can cross the finish line. Rather, it’s a challenge that emphasizes teamwork, camaraderie, and accomplishing something almost as tough as you are.

It is Probably the toughest event on the planet

We would be grateful if people are able to support Lara and the Foundation by going to our website through our Edith Ellen Website or Paypal link to donate, Thank You

Care home told to improve again

A Care home in Wiltshire has been told once again that it must improve, and a recent inspection was the fourth in two years that judged the home not to be meeting national standards.

Due to a recent negative exposure and a report in a local paper The Edith Ellen Foundation have been asked to go in and support a CQC failing Service

The Care Home was told it ‘Requires Improvement’ in a report released earlier in August by independent watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Care Home was told it ‘Requires Improvement’

The home has now been given the rating – below ‘Good’ but above ‘Inadequate’ – consistently for over two years. It was ‘Good’ in three out of the five categories in an inspection last year, but has worsened this time to four out of five areas requiring improvement.

Top Tip - MAINTAINING POSITIVE THOUGHTS

We can all have negative thoughts.  Whether we choose to believe them or not will impact on how we feel about ourselves.

Choose your thoughts well.

  • Negative thoughts can be a learned belief and therefore they need to be unlearnt
  •  The more energy you give to negative thoughts the more powerful they become
  • Conversely the more energy you give to positive thoughts the more powerful they become
  • Challenge any negative thoughts as soon as they appear and replace them with a positive thought
  • Make a list of positive statements that you can repeat to yourself on a regular basis e.g. 10-20 times a day!  Does that sound too much?
  • If it does sound too much, think about how many times you talk negatively about yourself - it is likely to be much more than 20 times a day
  • It may feel alien at first to repeat positive statements about yourself however, persistence is important.  It is possible with conscious effort to change out thoughts
